So, to start off....This is a blog about, well, a year of Joy. Joy of cooking to be exact. So each day I will try my best, I do have school you know, to take a recipe out of Joy, and write about. It might end mostly being about baking, but whatever. If you don't know what Joy is, shame on you. Joy is, well, Joy is seriously my Bible. I don't know what I would do without, really. So anyways, Day One. Oh, and this is the edition 1975. Old, I know....
Brownies Cockaigne Page 701
Im going to be making the cakey brownies, so I will be using a 9X9 inch pan. I preheat the oven to 350 (Its still warm from the snickerdoodles!)
First I need to melt in a double broiler: half a cup of butter and 4 oz of unsweetened chocolate. Yummy.
After burning myself on the double boiler (lovely) I have to let this cool for a little bit, otherwise the brownies will be dry and heavy. While I am waiting, I might as well get out the eggs, which need to be at 70°. Once the eggs are warm, Im going to put in four eggs, and using an electric mixer, beat them until they're foamy. once that is done, I need to beat in 2 cups of sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and beat it until its light and foamy. Now that the chocolate is cool, I fold that into the egg mixture, fold in a cup of flour, put in the greased pan, stick it in the oven for 25 minutes.... And... Im done! All in all, these brownies came out terrific, just right. You've done it again Joy!
